So good to be back "home;" I absolutely love Barcelona.
The people, the vibe, the heart of this city is simply amazing; the Gothic Quarter in its sepia tones breath taking.
Love it.
Andrea and I met up with my brother for tapas at this crazily packed tapas bars. The building kitty-corner was on fire on the roof, so there where hoards of spectators watching as the firemen extended the ridiculously long ladder up to the top of the building and extinguished the fire.
The tapas were delicious, and I certainly was hungry.
After tapas, we waited at another bar to meet up with my college friend Dave Read.
That was only the beginning of our messy night! I wanted to take him to a couple of my favorite bars in Barcelona, which I did.
The absinthe bar, Marsella, was as amazing as always; old bottles, mirrors, peeling roof...certainly an ambiance that makes one feel like a crazy 1800's absinthe drunk artist. The absinthe definitely made me a little saucy! It was Dave's first time experiencing absinthe, but I'm pretty sure he enjoyed it. Now, for all of you that have never had it, it is not a hallucinogen anymore because
1. not filtered through cheese cloth lined with coke/other drugs
2. slightly less wormwood content
After the absinthe bar, I took Dave to a skate bar called Manolo. Cool vibe, filled with local skaters, and skate vids projected on the walls. Good atmosphere. Dave also fell over in his chair and hit a Spanish girl which was hilarious. His face was positively priceless, and people looked at him oddly. HA!
It got late, but of course not too late for an impromtu history lesson and tour of the Gothic area. At night, when no one else is around, you can practically go back in time. Amazing.
I'm sure I rambled on and on about something to do with the Romans, as I usually do, but I'm sure he learned something hahahhaaa.
I made it home at 4AM, I think he did around 7am. Lovely! Ok, ok, here are some more photos;
